In a blow to embattled Congress leader P. Chidambaram, the Delhi High Court on Friday turned down his bail plea in the money-laundering case against him in the INX Media matter.

Justice Suresh Kait had reserved the verdict on Chidambaram's bail plea on November 8. Chidambaram had sought bail saying as the evidence is documentary and in the custody of probe agencies, he cannot tamper with them. The ED has opposed his plea on the ground that he had tried to influence and threaten witnesses.

Chidambaram had been arrested by the CBI in a corruption case in the INX Media matter on August 21. He was given bail in the CBI case on October 22 by the Supreme Court, but was already under arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
