The BJP and the Shiv Sena, on Friday, formally announced the seat-sharing deal between them for the upcoming assembly elections.
Addressing a joint press conference along with Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed that while the Shiv Sena will contest from 126 of the 288 seats, the rest of the seats will go to the BJP and its smaller allies.
The seat-sharing agreement was finalised after the BJP released its fourth list of candidates on Friday.
The chief minister said despite differences, the BJP and Shiv Sena share the "common thread" of Hindutva and will retain power in Maharashtra. The 'Mahayuti' alliance, comprising the BJP, Sena and other parties, will get an unprecedented victory in the elections, he added.
Fadnavis said Aaditya Thackeray, son of Uddhav Thackeray, will win the Worli seat assembly poll by securing the highest number of votes.
The assembly elections are scheduled for October 21.
