Reacting to the incident of lynching of a differently-abled man and assault on two others on suspicion of slaughtering a cow in Jharkhand's Khunti district, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said there is no law and order in the state and it is now known as ''Lynchistan''.

According to news agency ANI, the CPI(M) leader said there is no law and order in Jharkhand. After the incident of lynching, the state government made it clear that they are not with the victim, but with those who perpetrated the crime, she claimed.

“Once this message spread, our dear Jharkhand is now known as 'Lynchistan' in the entire country," she was quoted as saying. She said the message conveyed by the government after the incident is "disheartening".

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said mob lynchings are continuing without any restrictions and added that there is an atmosphere of hate and violence in the society which is being patronised by the government.

The incident happened after locals allegedly saw Kalantus Barla, Fagu Kacchap and Phillip Horo with the carcass of a cow near a river at Jaltanga village on Sunday and beat them up, a police officer said.

While Barla died on the way to the hospital, Kacchap and Horo are being treated at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi.
