Andhra Pradesh saw its first general election, on April 11, after the bifurcation of the state in 2014. Voting for the 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats were held simultaneously. The battle is between Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSRCP.

As counting proceeds, early trends show that Jaganmohan Reddy's YSRCP is leading in 113 seats and TDP in 28.
While Chandrababu Naidu is seeking election to the Assembly for the ninth time from Kuppam constituency, his son Nara Lokesh is making his electoral debut from Mangalagiri. Jaganmohan Reddy is fighting his second Assembly election from Pulivendula.
