Gunfight underway in Shopian; one militant killed

One militant was killed during an encounter with security forces in the Imamsahib area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following a tip-off about the presence of militants. 

Two-three terrorists are believed to be trapped in a residential house in the area. Reports said the operation was underway.

Meanwhile another gunfight took place in Warpora area of Sopore in Baramulla district. In Sopore, all educational institutions were closed and mobile Internet services suspended as a precautionary measure.

On Thursday, two policemen were injured in an encounter in the same area.
