Sailing on the Ganga through Mirzapur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday continued her outreach programme in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections.

The river journey was punctuated by meetings in villages along the river banks, where she engaged with the people, shaking hands with them, enquiring about their well being and posing for selfies with them.

En route from Chandigarh ghat to Sindhaura, when she saw a group of people waiting at the banks and raising slogans in favour of the Congress, she took the impromptu decision to leave her steamer and reach the shore on a small motor boat meant for lifesavers.

The second day of the three-day boat yatra also saw Priyanka going to a village of weavers in Mirzapur district, where she had a discussion with them on their issues and what needs to be done for their welfare.

Priyanka's visit to the famous Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur was not all pleasant, with the crowd gathered there shouting 'Modi, Modi’ throughout her visit at the shrine.

The AICC general secretary also visited a Mazar in Mirzapur as part of the outreach programme.

Earlier on Tuesday, reacting to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma's jibe that the boat campaign was a picnic and that the Gandhis go to Italy after the elections, she said, “I have not been to Italy for the last three to four years.”

The boat yatra will culminate tomorrow in Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha constituency.
