Prakash Javadekar, Union minister for human resource development, has said that India took necessary steps to defend the country, after IAF jets carried out raids on alleged militant camps in Pakistan.
"This was a very strong and necessary response... the steps taken today were necessary," Javadekar was heard saying.
Javadekar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "given this freedom to the armed forces, and now the entire nation stands behind the armed forces".
The air strike was a reaction to the JeM terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans at Pulwama on February 14.
