BJP chief Amit Shah hit out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having an "anti-dalit" mindset, and asked the Congress chief to spend some time to look at facts when he is not busy with “winking'. Amit Shah further said it was the opposition party that has a history of insulting dalits.

Amit Shah, on Thursday, took to Twitter to slam the Congress chief. In a series of tweets, Amit Shah said the prime minister's legacy includes "strongest amendments to SC/ST Act" and setting up of the OBC Commission, while the Congress legacy was about insulting dalit leaders, opposing the Mandal Commission report and blocking a move to empower the OBC body.

Amit Shah's attack on the Congress chief came after Rahul Gandhi joined a protest at Jantar Mantar and criticised Modi over the Centre's policies towards dalits.

In a series of tweets, Amit Shah asked Rahul Gandhi to spend some time on checking facts "when you are free from winking and disrupting Parliament" and asserted that the NDA government has ensured the strongest amendment to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

He was referring to Rahul Gandhi's wink in Lok Sabha after hugging PM Modi during a debate on the no-confidence motion against the government.

"Why are you protesting that?", Amit Shah asked Rahul Gandhi while talking about the new bill that seeks to reverse a recent Supreme Court order that put additional safeguards against arrest of accused in cases of atrocities against dalits.

Rahul Gandhi had, earlier in the day, said the Congress government had brought the atrocities act and his party will protect it together with everybody. The Congress chief alleged that dalits are beaten up in states where the saffron party is in power and claimed that the prime minister has an anti-dalit mindset.
