In a landmark moment, Dr Reddy's Laboratories announced the decision to distribute India's first CDSCO-approved dengue vaccine, which is anticipated to be available in the first half of 2027.

The company got into an exclusive distribution agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to promote and distribute its dengue vaccine, QDENGA, in India's private market for paediatric and adult vaccination.

About the dengue vaccine

QDENGA, a live-attenuated tetravalent vaccine, aims to strengthen dengue prevention and management by providing broad immune coverage across all four circulating dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1 to DENV-4).

It is administered as a two-dose regimen given three months apart. Approved in 43 countries, QDENGA has seen over 32 million doses distributed globally.

The announcement is particularly important after dengue cases have seen a surge in the country in recent times.

As per the official press release, more than 32 million doses of the vaccine have been distributed worldwide through public and private programs across Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam in Asia, as well as in Latin America and Europe, including Brazil’s National Immunization Program and public programs in Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia and Thailand. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the vaccine without pre-vaccination screening for use in high endemic countries.
