Prompting the health authorities to act immediately, six women in Rajasthan's Bikaner developed serious health complications after undergoing caesarean deliveries. 

Officials informed that the affected patients have been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) following the difficulties they faced, including kidney-related issues at Bikaner's PBM Hospital. 

To investigate the matter, a team of specialist doctors from Jodhpur Medical College inspected the hospital as part of an ongoing probe into the incident. 

Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar informed that samples of medicines and other medical materials used in the hospital are being collected for testing to ascertain the exact cause of the complications.

"They were normal after delivery, but later started facing issues like reduced urine output and other complications. Doctors are treating them, but we want a fair inquiry so that the real cause is known and such incidents do not recur," a relative of one of the patients said to PTI. 

The specialist team inspected the gynaecology department, operating theatres and ICU wards. Later, they also interacted with patients and their family members to understand the sequence of events that led to the women developing complications. 

"Patient care at present appears satisfactory. However, it would be premature to comment on the cause. We have completed inspections, and it will take some time to compile a final report," said Dr Prabhu Prakash Gupta from the Microbiology Department, who is part of the six-member team, to PTI. 

Last month, at least 5 pregnant women died after undergoing C-section surgeries at Kota Government Medical College Hospital and JK Lon Hospital in Rajasthan. But the health minister clarified that the case in Bikaner is different from that in Kota and they should not be linked.
