Hair fall is a common concern that affects both men and women. Despite numerous medications and treatments available, many still struggle to find an effective solution for hair regrowth. But a new scientific breakthrough may finally offer hope.
Experts at National Taiwan University have announced the development of a unique serum capable of restoring hair growth in as little as 20 days.
In experiments conducted on mice, researchers found that the serum stimulated fat cells in the skin, which helped regenerate hair follicles. Scientists believe the treatment could eventually be developed into an over-the-counter product for humans.
One of the study’s authors, Professor Sung-Jan Lin, even tested the serum on himself. “I personally applied these fatty acids, dissolved in alcohol, on my thighs for three weeks and found it promoted hair regrowth,” he told New Scientist.
The serum works based on a biological process known as Hypertrichosis, which involves irritation or minor injury to the skin surface that promotes excessive hair growth.
“Humans may have lost dense hair coverage on their bodies, but evidence suggests we have retained this important regenerative capacity,” reported The Irish Sun.

The researchers emphasized that the results still need to be validated in human clinical trials, which will be the next phase of the study. The findings were published in the journal Cell Metabolism.
