Warning: Spoiler alert
While Ramayana: Part One has received rave reviews from critics and fans, the talking point on social media is the conclusion as the movie ends with a watershed moment in Lord Rama's journey. While the epic showdown between Rama (Ranbir Kapoor) and Ravana (Yash) has been kept for a sequel, the first part concludes with Jatayu's funeral.
While Ravana abducted Sita and was taking her to Lanka, Jatayu (voiced by Anupam Kher) tries to rescue Sita devi from his clutches. Rama, who was unaware about how Sita disappeared, was alerted by a heavily wounded Jatayu about Ravana, before he succumbed to his injuries.
After performing Jatayu's final rites, Rama vows to rescue Sita (Sai Pallavi) and eliminate Ravana.
However, the film has a surprise in a post-credit scene, where fans are given a glimpse of Lord Hanuman. While we are not shown the face of the character, we already know that it is played by Sunny Deol. Hanuman is shown chanting Jai Shri Ram and Hanuman Chalisa as he flies off.
Sita devi is shown dropping her jewellery while being abducted. In the sequel, this will help Rama trace her journey to Lanka. On the way, he reaches Kishkindha, where he is expected to meet Sugriva and Hanuman. Sunny Deol's brief appearance hints that Hanuman will be crucial part of the sequel, for which fans will have to wait two years till Diwali 2028.
On Day 1, Ramayana netted ₹64.85 crore from 25,148 shows, including ₹47.5 crore in Hindi. The total gross collection on the first day was pegged at ₹77.5 crore, according to shows tracked by Sacnilk. Reports suggest that around 25.25 lakh tickets were sold for Ramayana on Day 1.
