25-year-old Indian model Ravleen Varghese on Sunday turned heads at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles—thousands of miles away from her native village of Kodumon in Kerala's Kottayam district.
Varghese is now the first Malayali model to walk on the international platform alongside famous faces in the world of modelling and Hollywood, such as Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid, Barbara Palvin, Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid, and Kylie Jenner.
Standing tall at 5'11, she also walked the ramp twice, showing off both a 'soft girl' vibe and a 'black lace' persona.
She kicked things off wearing a gorgeous, sheer pink lace lingerie set, complimented by a flowing ruffled robe. She had her hair styled in long, loose waves; her skin glowing behind her sharp, winged liner.
She then switched things up in her second walk, where she shared the stage with Luza Perote and Malika El Maslouhi.
For this, she wore a black lace bra with white embroidery trim, paired with geometric body straps and high-waisted black-and-white lace bottoms. Thigh-highs, garters, and some chunky silver bangles finished the look.
However, for Varghese, modelling at one of fashion's biggest stages was never originally part of the plan.
Soon after moving to Delhi to study design at NIFT, she was scouted by Anima Creative Management at 18, after which her modelling career took to the skies.
“I wake up, blast my favourite Malayalam tracks, and dance through my skincare routine. I always show up to work in an outfit that makes me feel bold and confident,” she told entertainment outlet The Nod, describing her pre-show ritual.
Despite a modest following of nearly 10,000 on Instagram, companies like JAG Models and MMG Models represent her in the US and UAE, respectively.
Varghese is also no stranger to the ramp, as the Victoria's Secret show is the latest in a series of appearances she has made for brands like Dior, Loewe, Out House, Benefit, Ounass, Mary Claire, and Pomellato, as well as for the New York Fashion Week.
She has also been featured on the covers of Harper's Bazaar and Elle Magazine, in addition to her photographs appearing inside Vogue, Mojeh, Cosmopolitan, and Grazia.
