Rajinikanth’s much-awaited action sequel "Jailer 2" has recorded an impressive ₹38.09 crore in domestic advance bookings just two days before its theatrical release on October 15, 2026.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and starring Superstar Rajinikanth, the film has the advantage of the massive hype established by the success of the first film.

According to advance booking figures tracked by Sacnilk, the film has earned ₹38.09 crore in gross ticket sales across all four days currently open for booking. After excluding blocked seats, the total stands at ₹33.10 crore. Around 19.84 lakh tickets have been sold across 19,675 shows in 397 cities across India.

The opening day has emerged as the biggest contributor to the film’s advance sales. Thursday, October 15, has already collected ₹21.75 crore, showing strong demand for the film’s first-day screenings.

The Tamil version leads the advance booking race by a wide margin, contributing ₹33.95 crore, or around 89 per cent of the total. The Telugu version follows with ₹3.58 crore. The film is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.

Chennai is the strongest market for “Jailer 2”, with advance sales of ₹12.35 crore from 7.06 lakh tickets. Bengaluru ranks next, collecting ₹4.27 crore. Tamil Nadu remains the film’s biggest regional market, while Kerala has also shown a hugely enthusiastic response.

In Kerala, "Jailer 2" is tracking significantly ahead of the first "Jailer", demonstrating massive hype that is currently outpacing even some regions of its home state, Tamil Nadu. Driven heavily by the Mohanlal factor and distribution rights managed by Sree Gokulam Movies, the sequel is breaking multiple regional pre-sale records.

"Jailer 2" reportedly generated ₹1.61 Cr in pre-sales within the first hour of the booking window launching in Kerala. The pre-sales in Kerala are already nearing the ₹4 crore gross mark for Day 1. Ticket platforms like BookMyShow and Zomato's District recorded unprecedented traffic, selling upwards of 40,000 and 12,000 tickets per hour respectively during peak windows.

However, the film’s Hindi release faces a challenge. The Hindi-dubbed version will not be screened at major national multiplex chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis because of a disagreement over the film’s digital streaming release.

Sun Pictures’ North India public relations team has clarified that the Hindi version will release as planned on October 15 through distributor Pen Marudhar Entertainment. However, it will miss out on the screenings at these major chains because of a disagreement over the time between its theatrical and online releases.

The producers have reportedly agreed to release the film on a major streaming platform in all languages within four weeks of its theatrical debut. In contrast, national multiplex chains require an eight-week gap before a Hindi film, including a dubbed South Indian film, becomes available online.

Since the producers are holding on to their existing streaming plans, the chains have decided not to screen the Hindi version. Reports also suggest that the Tamil version could face similar restrictions at some North Indian properties.

Despite this setback, Hindi-speaking audiences can still watch "Jailer 2" at regional multiplex chains such as Miraj, Wave and MovieTime, as well as independent multiplexes and single-screen theatres.
