Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film "Jailer 2" has collected more than ₹20.50 crore in advance worldwide bookings for its opening day, according to tracking portal Sacnilk.

With four days remaining before its scheduled release on Thursday, October 15, 2026, the film is seeing a particularly strong response in international markets, while initial bookings in India are still opening in stages.

Overseas markets have contributed more than ₹17 crore to the film’s opening-day advance sales, with the United States emerging as a major contributor. The international advance gross has already crossed the $1 million mark, showing the strong demand for Rajinikanth’s films among audiences outside India.

In comparison, early bookings in India have reached ₹4.41 crore so far. However, these figures reflect an early stage of ticket sales, as bookings for several language versions are expected to expand closer to the release date.

Tamil Nadu is currently the biggest contributor to the domestic advance sales of "Jailer 2", accounting for ₹3.73 crore, or around 84 per cent of the Indian total recorded so far. The state has also reported 71 completely sold-out shows.

Chennai is the strongest-performing city in India, with early bookings worth ₹1.74 crore. The city has recorded 59 per cent occupancy across 416 tracked shows.

Kerala has also shown encouraging early momentum, collecting ₹40.52 lakh through advance bookings across 636 listed shows. In Karnataka, bookings have reached ₹26.98 lakh, with Bengaluru contributing significantly to the state's performance. The city is recording 59 per cent occupancy.

Across the tracked Indian market, approximately 2.38 lakh tickets have been sold across 2,353 shows. The average occupancy stands at 27 per cent, while morning shows are performing better, with occupancy reaching 34 per cent.

So far, all recorded domestic advance bookings have come from the Tamil version, according to Sacnilk. Wider sales for the Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi versions are expected to open closer to the release.

As of now, "Jailer 2" is doing better than the original in terms of advance sales. The original film recorded more than ₹18.50 crore in worldwide opening-day advance bookings, including approximately ₹11 crore from overseas markets.

By comparison, "Jailer 2" has already crossed ₹20.50 crore worldwide, with overseas sales exceeding ₹17 crore ahead of wide release. Its international advance gross has therefore moved well ahead of the original film's reported overseas figure.

However, the domestic comparison requires caution. The first "Jailer" recorded an all-India advance gross of ₹18.24 crore, with 8.77 lakh tickets sold across 7,461 tracked shows. "Jailer 2" has so far recorded ₹4.41 crore domestically, with more shows and bookings opening up on Sunday (Oct. 11, 2026) expected to register higher numbers.

One thing is clear. The early figures suggest that "Jailer 2" is benefiting from Rajinikanth’s international popularity and strong audience interest in the sequel.
