After the stellar box office success of "Obsession", filmmaker Curry Barker is ready to bring out his next, a horror-comedy feature titled "Anything but Ghosts." Interestingly, it is set in the same universe as "Obsession".

Directed by Curry Barker from a script he co-wrote with his long-time creative partner Cooper Tomlinson, the film is officially scheduled to hit theatres on May 7, 2027, with Focus Features handling distribution.

"Anything but Ghosts" follows two charismatic con artists — played by Barker and Tomlinson — running a fake paranormal investigation business. Their "smooth" and lucrative business, which involves tricking vulnerable clients with the aid of fake ghost-hunting equipment, flickering lights, and shaking tables, takes a turn for the worse when they accidentally stumble on real supernatural beings.

Barker has confirmed that although "Anything but Ghosts" is set within the same cinematic universe as "Obsession," the movie will lean much heavier into dark horror-comedy, with the duo putting to good use their background in internet sketch comedy on their channel, 'That's a Bad Idea'. Fans also expect to see an Easter Egg addressing the ultimate fate of Nikki from "Obsession".

Barker has already wrapped principal photography. Backed by Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster on a $5 million budget, the movie was filmed in Vancouver under the working title Faraday. Barker shared the production was incredibly fast-paced, shooting a massive 130-page script in just 26 days while he simultaneously directed and starred as the lead character.

The lead cast members comprise Curry Barker, Cooper Tomlinson, Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard, Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, and Matty Finochio.

"Obsession" has so far earned over $520 million in worldwide box office sales, with North American sales alone reaching over $263 million.
