'Haiwaan' Day 4 Box Office: Akshay Kumar's lowest opening in more than a decade; Priyadarshan thriller tanks despite star power

In terms of its first four-day collection, "Haiwaan" is officially Akshay Kumar's lowest net collection in the post-pandemic era. While "Haiwaan" started slightly higher on Day 1 compared to his other lowest openers, it suffered an unprecedented downward trend over the weekend followed by a massive Monday crash.
Other recent flops of Akshay Kumar, like "Sarfira" and "Selfiee", had very poor openings but saw normal weekend growth; "Haiwaan", by contrast, lost audience numbers every single day.
On Day 4, "Haiwaan" earned just ₹0.70 crore net in India from 3,265 shows. Its total India net collection has reached ₹8.05 crore, while the India gross stands at ₹9.63 crore, according to Sacnilk figures. Overseas, the film added ₹0.25 crore on Day 4, taking its total overseas gross to ₹3 crore.
The numbers put "Haiwaan" below some of Akshay Kumar's weakest recent performers. For comparison, "Raksha Bandhan" collected ₹28.16 crore, while "Khel Khel Mein" earned ₹15 crore during an extended holiday weekend. "Sarfira" finished its opening weekend and first Monday at ₹13.40 crore, and "Mission Raniganj" collected ₹13 crore. Even "Selfiee", which collapsed after its opening weekend, earned ₹11.10 crore. By comparison, "Haiwaan" has managed only ₹8.05 crore net in India so far.
The poor performance is also a setback for Priyadarshan, whose Hindi-film legacy is largely built on popular comedy blockbusters. "Haiwaan" reportedly marks his ninth flop among 11 non-comedy Hindi films.
The film's performance is also weak compared with Saif Ali Khan and Akshay's previous collaboration. Their biggest hit, "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" (1994), earned ₹13.84 crore at the time, when ticket prices were far lower.
Adding to the problem, "Haiwaan" reportedly lost more than 1,400 screens during its opening weekend as theatres shifted shows toward stronger-performing films such as "Hanuman Ansh" and "Mirzapur: The Movie". With collections falling this sharply, "Haiwaan" is now on course to become one of Akshay Kumar's lowest-grossing films in more than a decade.
