'Don't Be Shy': Alia Bhatt’s first Prime Video feature production introduces some new faces

Alia Bhatt is set to bring a fresh young-adult story to audiences with "Don’t Be Shy", a coming-of-age romantic comedy that will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on September 25, 2026. The film is produced by Alia and her sister Shaheen Bhatt under their banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions.

The story follows 20-year-old Shyamili “Shy” Das, a young woman whose carefully planned life takes an unexpected turn. Directed and written by Sreeti Mukerji, the film introduces four new actors in the lead roles: Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora, and Piyush Khati. The supporting cast includes Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, and Neha Dhupia.

Although Alia is not starring in the film, reports suggest that she will appear in a special promotional song connected to the project. "Don’t Be Shy" will be available on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles. A teaser has been released online.

The film also marks Alia’s first feature-film collaboration as a producer with Prime Video. She previously worked with the platform as an executive producer on "Poacher", the acclaimed 2024 crime drama series created by Richie Mehta.

Eternal Sunshine Productions, founded by Alia, focuses on character-driven stories, dark comedies, and emotional dramas. Its earlier projects include "Darlings" (2022), a dark comedy-drama about domestic abuse starring Alia, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma; "Poacher" (2024); and "Jigra" (2024), an action drama about a sister trying to rescue her brother.

With "Don’t Be Shy", Alia’s production house is continuing its focus on contemporary stories while giving four newcomers a chance to showcase their talents.

"Don't Be Shy" also introduces a new director. Before stepping into the director's chair, Sreeti Mukerji, who is director Ayan Mukerji's cousin, spent years working as an assistant director on major Bollywood projects, such as "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (2013), and "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" (2016). She was also part of the core team of "Brahmastra Part One: Shiva" (2022).
