A report has emerged of Indian actress Ananya Raj's passing a month after the incident. It has been learnt that she died peacefully in her sleep on July 15, 2026, at the age of 27, after battling serious physical and mental health problems for more than a year.

Her family confirmed her death publicly on August 16 through her personal Instagram account, explaining that they had chosen to keep the news private while they grieved.

Some initial reports mention her age as 35, but her family stated that she was 27.

Born Ananya Sengupta on August 10, 1998, she began her career by appearing in music videos for major labels including T-Series and Times Music. She later worked in Hindi and regional films and made her Bollywood debut with "7 Hours to Go" in 2016. Her other notable films included "The Final Exit" (2017), the horror film "Ghost" (2019), the Telugu thriller "Thaggede Le" (2022), and the trilingual film "Madrasi Gang".

In their statement, Ananya's family said she had fought her health struggles “like a warrior.” They described the past year as a difficult period in which she faced severe physical and mental discomfort. Her mother, Manju Gupta, and her two younger brothers, Rahul and Rohit, supported her throughout her illness. The family affectionately called her “Bachcha.”

Her family said they needed time and privacy to process the loss of their young daughter. They waited until after her final rites before announcing her death and shared photographs from the service with the public.

Ananya's death has also brought a response from the film industry. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement mourning her passing and remembering her as a young talent whose life and career ended far too soon.
