On Day 2, "DC" collected around ₹7.00 crore net in India from 3,549 shows. Its total India gross collection has now reached ₹13.11 crore, while the India net collection stands at ₹11.40 crore. The film also performed well in overseas markets, earning approximately ₹3.00 crore on its second day. This has taken its overseas gross collection to ₹5.25 crore.
With these numbers combined, the film's worldwide gross collection has reached around ₹18.36 crore so far. Some early box-office tracking reports have placed the worldwide figure slightly lower at ₹17.99 crore, reflecting differences in reporting and updates across sources.
The biggest talking point is the film's Day 2 growth. Its India net collection increased sharply from ₹4.40 crore on the opening day to around ₹6.70 crore on Day 2, representing a growth of approximately 52.3%. Another reported figure of ₹7.00 crore suggests a 59.1% increase, depending on the final collection update. Either way, the second-day jump points to strong audience response.
Regionally, Tamil Nadu remained one of the film's strongest markets, contributing around ₹2.40 crore in gross collections on Day 2. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana followed with approximately ₹2.25 crore. The film's strong presence across 3,549 shows also highlights its expanding theatrical reach.
With an estimated production budget of ₹25 crore, "DC" has made a promising start. If the momentum continues through the weekend, the film could move closer to recovering its production cost and potentially enter a profitable run.
The Day 2 performance is particularly notable when compared with director Arun Matheswaran's previous theatrical release, "Captain Miller". Starring Dhanush, the period action thriller opened strongly during the Pongal holiday period but saw its Day 2 collection fall by about 14.37%, from ₹8.70 crore to ₹7.45 crore net.
"DC", by contrast, opened at a more modest ₹4.40 crore but recorded a substantial second-day increase. This positive movement suggests growing audience interest due to strong word-of-mouth bolstered by positive critics' reviews.
Matheswaran's earlier films, "Saani Kaayidham" and "Rocky", didn't have the same privilege. "Saani Kaayidham" was released directly on OTT, while "Rocky" had a niche theatrical run. With the backing of Sun Pictures and Lokesh Kanagaraj's presence as a lead actor, "DC" represents a much wider commercial platform for the director.
Its strong Day 2 numbers suggest that "DC" is building momentum at the right time, with the rest of the opening weekend likely to determine how far its box-office run can go.
