"Jana Nayagan" opened in about 125-150 theatres in the state. Following police advisories, major locations, including Bengaluru's Urvashi and Sampige theatres, have cancelled all previously scheduled shows. Moreover, promotional materials are being removed or masked to shield properties from vandalism.

Srirampura Police and local units have scaled up patrolling and deployed additional forces in sensitive areas, particularly in neighbourhoods with substantial Tamil-speaking populations. Activists from the Karunada Vijaya Sene laid siege to the Gurushree Theatre in Mandya while a screening had been in progress, forcing the management to halt the show. They also tore down the exterior banners.

The CWMA upheld recommendations requiring Karnataka to supply 3,500 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days. But Karnataka's state government isn’t willing to budge, citing extreme water scarcity and low reservoir levels due to deficient rainfall.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar announced an all-party meeting to discuss filing a formal appeal against the order. Additionally, he stated that a planned political meeting with Vijay, the present Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, must be deferred because the regional atmosphere is too volatile.

Directed by H. Vinoth, "Jana Nayagan" was released worldwide recently after a six-month delay. It is presumably Vijay's final film.
