On Day 3, "The Odyssey" collected a net total of Rs 21.90 crore across 9,195 shows, as shown by tracking portal Sacnilk. The film grossed Rs 73.19 crore and netted Rs 61.30 crore in India so far.
Globally, "The Odyssey" has already recovered its estimated $250 million budget in three days. In terms of revenue, it's Nolan's biggest opener since "The Dark Knight", earning $264 million. Internationally, the United Kingdom and Ireland lead all sales for "The Odyssey", bringing in $17.4 million (£12.9 million) over its opening weekend. The film opened across 73 international markets, breaking records to deliver Nolan’s biggest offshore opening ever. European territories heavily dominated the film's initial international box office haul.
Aside from the United Kingdom & Ireland, France brought in $13.7 million. In Italy, the box office recorded the biggest July opening ($11.5 million). India's contribution totals to around $8.7 million, marking the biggest opening day for a non-franchise Hollywood film in the country. Australian screens generated $3.7 million through Friday. "The Odyssey" is scheduled to expand into more high-revenue territories later this summer.
Written for the screen by Nolan, who adapted Homer's iconic poem of the same name, "The Odyssey" stars a stellar ensemble comprising Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland, among others.
