Akshay Kumar has another winner in his hands this year after "Bhooth Bangla". "Welcome to the Jungle" (AKA Welcome 3) has already crossed the 50 crore mark in India after a strong first-weekend performance that includes Thursday preview shows. According to data from Sacnilk, the action-comedy netted Rs 24.75 crore domestically on Day 3 from 10,867 shows.

This has pushed the domestic gross to Rs 76.50 crore and the domestic net total to Rs 63.75 crore as of Monday morning. With an overseas total of Rs 16.70 crore so far, the combined worldwide gross now stands at Rs 93.20 crore.

"Welcome to the Jungle" has already outpaced its franchise predecessors in three days, in terms of lifetime collections. The two previous entries, "Welcome" and "Welcome Back", relied heavily on their lifetime theatrical runs, but "Welcome to the Jungle has capitalised on its massive scale and show count to register a much higher opening weekend compared to the other two.

Irrespective of critics' reviews, the opening weekend performance of "Welcome to the Jungle" alone has cemented a major career turnaround for Akshay Kumar, following his return to form earlier this year with "Bhooth Bangla", which also did significant business from strong word-of-mouth. In fact, it has even outperformed "Bhooth Bangla", which brought in just Rs 90 crore in its opening weekend before concluding its theatrical run with Rs 246.75 crore worldwide.

Both these films have ended the dry spell in the actor's filmography. The Rs 90 crore+ figure alone has completely obliterated his high-budget 2024 disappointments like "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" (estimated budget Rs 350 crore, but declared a major box-office bomb). This new success builds on his solid 2025 run, which included the smash-hit legal sequel "Jolly LLB 3" and the moderately successful ensemble "Housefull 5".

"Welcome to the Jungle" features an extraordinarily large star cast of 34 main actors, including Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, and Jacqueline Fernandez, among others. Directed by Ahmed Khan froom a story by Neeraj Vora (with dialogues by Farhad Samji), it is produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, Rakesh Dang, and Vedant Vikaas Baali.
