However, Pawan Kalyan will step in as the producer this time around, under the banner of Pawan Kalyan Creative Works. D. V. V. Danayya and Kalyan Dasari produced the first film.
The makers shared the announcement on social media with the caption, "Before the storm arrives... there's a moment of silence. The untold story of Gambheera is ready to unfold. Director Sujeeth and Pawan Kalyan Garu reunite under Pawan Kalyan Creative Works to expand the OG Universe saga."
Emraan Hashmi played the antagonist in the original, with Sriya Reddy, Priyanka Mohan, Prakash Raj, Sudev Nair, and Harish Uthaman among the cast members.
The announcement poster teases a Japanese connection, hinting that the sequel will once again lean into the Yakuza involvement much more. The Japanese past of Ojas Gambheera, aka Master Orochi Genshin, was an integral element of the first film, too. Composer Thaman S is also officially on board to write the background score and music. The announcement video featured comic book sketches from "OG: The First Blood", hinting at historical references (such as Subhas Chandra Bose), a mysterious "outsider" character, and a sequence where a snowy terrain slowly transforms into a blood-soaked battleground.
Pawan Kalyan has personally assured Sujeeth full cooperation and commitment despite his duties as Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh. He is reportedly expected to join the sets after November 2026, right after his political and assembly engagements are cleared.
The film generated immense hype before its official September 25, 2025, release, making history as India's all-time highest-grossing film for paid previews by bringing in over Rs 23 crore. It then emerged as the second-highest-grossing Telugu film of 2025 at the worldwide box office, comfortably surpassing Ram Charan's "Game Changer" (Rs 191.81 crore). It secured a place as the ninth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 overall. With an estimated global total of Rs 293.65 to Rs 300.25 crore, it is Pawan Kalyan's highest-grossing film ever.
