Shahid Kapoor-fronted romantic drama "Cocktail 2" has opened strongly at the box office, netting Rs 13.50 crore in India on Day 1 across 10,835 shows. Directed by Homi Adajania and starring Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna as the female leads, the film secured its spot as the third-biggest Bollywood opener of 2026. The film's domestic gross totals Rs 16.20 crore so far, with overseas gross at Rs 4.00 crore, taking the worldwide total to Rs 20.20 crore, as per box office tracker Sacnilk.
The spiritual sequel has surpassed the opening-day performance of the original 2012 "Cocktail", starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, which collected Rs 10.50 crore. Since there are no major competing releases in Hindi, "Cocktail 2" has, to its advantage, a wide theatrical coverage, registering an overall theatre occupancy of 24.57%.
Despite the mixed responses, "Cocktail 2" is performing exceptionally well relative to recent modern romantic comedies such as "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya". The sci-fi rom-com, which also starred Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, had opened to Rs 6.70 crore in India. Interestingly, "Cocktail 2" did nearly the same as the opening day collection of "Saiyaara".
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Pramita Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films and Luv Ranjan under Luv Films, "Cocktail 2" was written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain. It has music by Pritam. It was edited by Akshara Prabhakar and shot by Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran. The film was certified 'A' and has a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
