Sending shockwaves across the North Indian television industry, actor Sanchita Ugale reportedly died by suicide at her residence in Mumbai. She was 30.

Sanchita Ugale was best known for her role in the hit Zee TV serial Kumkum Bhagya. Apart from television, she also featured in Manoj Bajpayee's Silence 2 and in Vicky Kaushal's historical film Chhaava.

As per reports, she breathed her last on Sunday evening (June 14) at her home in Nalasopara, near Mumbai. The incident came to light on Monday after her body was found in her bedroom, local media said.

The Mumbai Police think Sanchita was alone at home when the incident occurred. The tragedy came to light when her family members returned home. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The police probe has begun and no suicide note has been recovered from the scene so far, TV9 Kannada said in a report. The exact reason behind her death remains unknown and will only be determined after the police investigation is completed.

Just a few hours before her death, Sanchita had shared a cheerful reel on her official Instagram account, the media report said.

Coming from a modest background, Sanchita had worked hard to establish herself in the entertainment industry. She rose to fame through her portrayal of Diya Tandon in Zee TV's hit show Kumkum Bhagya. She also appeared in the television serials Wagle Ki Duniya and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the TV9 Kannada report said.
