Suriya's 'Karuppu' sees strong jump on second Saturday, enters 100 crore club at Tamil Nadu box office

Suriya's latest cinematic venture, directed by RJ Balaji, has demonstrated remarkable box office performance, notably on its second Saturday. With a significant surge, the film registered its highest earnings since first Tuesday

Suriya's new blockbuster "Karuppu" saw an exceptional jump on the second Saturday (Day 9), collecting about 56.4% more (Rs 12.20 crore) than what it earned on the second Friday (Rs 7.80 crore). The earnings are the highest since Day 5 (12.75 crore on the first Tuesday).

Sacnilk's box office data show that the total India gross collections are currently clocked at Rs 154.99 crore and total India net at Rs 133.85 crore. With a total overseas gross of Rs 62.75 crore, the cumulative global total now stands at Rs 217.74 crore.

This 9-day data demonstrates the film is performing exceptionally well — basically, all the characteristics of a major box office hit. The second Saturday performance is indicative of excellent audience retention and positive mouth publicity.

The Day 9 dip relative to the early daily average is completely normal for a second-week weekday-to-weekend transition, but the double-digit domestic net on Day 9 points toward a massive second Sunday surge.
Domestic markets continue to be driving the bulk of the revenue (71.2%), while a healthy overseas contribution (28.8%) provides a strong financial cushion.

Maintaining nearly 5,000 shows into its second week proves sustained screen demand and strong confidence from the exhibitors' side — the results are there for all to see, regardless of mixed reviews from certain corners.

In Tamil Nadu, "Karuppu" has already crossed the Rs 100 crore milestone — the first in nine months to enter this club. It's also Suriya's first film to do so in the region. Tamil Nadu leads, bringing in over 64% of the total domestic gross revenue.

In the Telugu states, where the film was released under the title "Veerabhadrudu", it earned Rs 21.83 crore and is doing well with a highly steady reception. Karnataka has also seen consistent weekend footfalls, with around Rs 15 crore in cumulative gross. In Kerala, it earned Rs 10.35 crore, making it Suriya's highest-grossing film so far in the state.
