Drishyam 3 opened with a bang on May 21, marking Mohanlal's birthday amid predictions of Rs 100 crore collection in the first weekend.

On Day 1, Drishyam 3 minted Rs 43.37 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk figures. Going by this trend, the movie could easily cross Rs 50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend.

The worldwide figure includes Rs 25 crore in overseas earnings and Rs 18.37 crore in gross domestic box office collection.

The net domestic collection. was recorded at Rs 15.85 crore from 5,396 shows, reports Sacnilk. This includes Rs 13.7 crore in Malayalam, Rs 1.5 crore in Telugu, Rs 45 lakh in Tamil and Rs 20 lakh in Kannada. The Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn is set to release on October 2.

This is less than Mohanlal's highest grosser L2 Empuraan, which raked in Rs 21 crore in net earnings on its opening day and Rs 70 crore in worldwide collection.

However, it has surpassed the net collection of Thudarum, which was recorded at Rs 5.45 crore. However, the worldwide collection of Thudarum is Rs 16.65 crore, higher than Drishyam 3.

On Thursday, Mohanlal took to social media, saying, "Drishyam 3 was made with immense love, passion, and gratitude, and seeing that love come back through your response has been deeply moving. The trailer of Drishyam 3 hints that the police are looking to reopen the murder case once again as Georgekutty played by Mohanlal makes plans to save his family from prison once again. Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil and others will reprise their roles from the earlier movies.

The first instalment, Drishyam, released in 2013 and was the first Malayalam movie to earn Rs 50 crore in the box office. Drishyam 2, which released in 2021 amid pandemic, was restricted to OTT.
