The death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal last week has triggered shock across the country as more details emerge of her life.

She was found hanging at her marital residence after alleged harassment over dowry from her in-laws and her husband.

Originally from Noida, Twisha had worked in a company in Delhi for several years before meeting Samrath Singh in 2024. She made her presence in pageants and was crowned 'Miss Pune'. She also had a background in marketing and communication, and held an MBA degree, according to her unverified LinkedIn profile.

In her profile she described herself as a "dynamic professional with an MBA degree and a successful track record as a Marketing Manager in the restaurant industry." She also said that she was a "certified yoga trainer and a dedicated vipassana meditator."

She had also briefly tried acting for advertisements and even appeared in two films: Mugguru Monagallu (2021) and Zara Sambhal Kay (2018).

Her Mugguru Monagallu co-star Dheekshith Shetty, who gained recognition for his film The Girlfriend, said that the news of her death was “shocking”.

“It’s very shocking news. I had always known her as this committed, hard-working girl who had a passion towards whatever she was doing. She was so full of life, and it’s shocking to know that she took her own life,” he told Hindustan Times.

He said that he last spoke to her four years ago during their film shoot. He said that she decided that acting was not what she wanted to do and not what she made it out to be. “I didn’t even know that she got married. We worked on that one film, and then she went back to her place. She told me that she wanted to do her master's degree and acting was not up to the mark of what she was expecting it to be. Her brother was in the Army and she realised it wasn’t her cup of tea, so she wanted to just go back and settle with her family,” he said.

Mugguru Monagallu director Abhilash Reddy  also recalled meeting Twisha and her family and called her “a very simple and professional actor on set.” “I met her parents on the day of our film’s screening, and they were all such lovely people. It’s such sad and shocking news of her passing,” he told HT.

An SIT has been formed to probe into the allegations alleged by Twisha’s family against her in-laws and husband. They have accused the in-laws of murder.
