The Canadian rapper Drake has reclaimed streaming dominance after the surprise release of three albums – ‘Iceman’, ‘Maid of Honour' and ‘Habibti' as he broke multiple Spotify records within a day.

Spotify officially announced that Drake became the platform’s most-streamed artist in a single day in 2026, while ‘Iceman' recorded the biggest single-day album streams of the year. The album’s opening track, “Make Them Cry,” also became Spotify’s most-streamed song in a single day in 2026.

The unexpected release included 43 songs across the three albums and marked Drake’s first major solo project since 2023’s ‘For All the Dogs’. The rapper had teased Iceman for months through livestreams, but fans were caught off guard when two additional albums arrived alongside it.

This achievement comes at a crucial moment in Drake’s career, following months of online debate about his cultural relevance after his highly publicised feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. Several tracks on the albums appear to reference the rivalry, along with other celebrity feuds that quickly sparked online discussion.

Apart from Spotify, the triple release also reportedly earned Amazon Music’s biggest global-first 24-hour streaming debut of 2026 for any artist.

“Drake’s ability to command such immediate attention with a surprise release demonstrates his unparalleled connection with listeners in the digital age,” said music industry analyst Sarah Jenkins, highlighting how, with a surprise drop, Drake once again proved his grip on global streaming culture.
