Indonesian action thriller 'Blood Ties', from actor Iko Uwais' production house, gearing up for release

Directed by Sidharta Tata, the film has Livi Ciananta playing a former martial arts professional fighting a nefarious group of loan sharks to rescue her brother. Uwais' stunt team choreographed the fights

Indonesian action superstar Iko Uwais ("The Raid", "The Night Comes For Us") has been busy lately. After making his directorial debut with "Timur", a historical action-drama inspired by the 1996 Mapenduma hostage crisis, starring Uwais in the lead role, Uwais is producing a handful of projects under his recently launched production banner, Uwais Pictures.

One of the inaugural projects is scheduled for release next week in Indonesia.

The first, titled "Ikatan Darah" (English: title Blood Ties), and directed by Sidharta Tata, is scheduled for release in Indonesia on April 30, 2026. The film premiered at the Fantastic Fest last year.

The film features a female protagonist, Mega, played by Livi Ciananta, a former martial arts athlete who has to battle a network of loan sharks to save her brother. The brutal, high-intensity fight choreography in the film — a glimpse of which we get in the trailer — was designed by Uwais' stunt team.

As of April 2026, Iko Uwais is actively producing several high-octane projects through his label and joint ventures. Aside from "Ikatan Darah", he is also starring and producing "Pendekar: Warrior", a silat-driven action feature currently in pre-production.

Uwais is also developing the Indonesian remake of the acclaimed Korean thriller "The Man From Nowhere" with Joe Taslim ("The Night Comes For Us") as the lead.

Meanwhile, Taslim, who also co-starred with Uwais in "The Raid", will be next seen in the Hong Kong revenge thriller "The Furious". It will be released theatrically in the U.S. on 29 May, 2026. The film has been getting positive notice from the critics after it ran in various festival circuits, inviting favourable comparisons to "The Raid".
