'Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge' inches closer to worldwide box office records set by 'Baahubali 2', 'Pushpa 2'

The sixth highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas, Dhurandhar 2 is doing tremendously well for a film that had no screens in the Gulf

Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Dhurandhar 2) has become the sixth highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas, box office data tracking websites show. The collection from North America has immensely contributed to the success of the Aditya Dhar-directed spy-action thriller, as its overseas collection has reached ₹375.00 crore after sixteen days.

With ₹1,525+ crore already in its kitty, the film is just ₹150 odd crore away from surpassing Pushpa 2: The Rule's all-time record of ₹1,685 crore. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's numbers, meanwhile, are estimated by trackers – 1615+ crore.

Dangal is the best-performing Indian film in overseas theatres by a wide margin with ₹1,535.30 crore, followed by Secret Superstar at ₹831.47 crore. Bajrangi Bhaijaan has earned ₹489.47 crore overseas, while Jawan and Pathaan have collected ₹400.00 crore and ₹397.50 crore respectively. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge (Day 16) stands at ₹375.00 crore, and Andhadhun has made ₹347.62 crore. PK follows with ₹303.00 crore, closely followed by Dhurandhar 1 at ₹299.50 crore, and Animal with ₹255.00 crore in overseas earnings, box office tracker Sacnilk claimed.

However, it will be epic if Dhurandhar 2 breaches the top-three list in this category, as the current podium holders were all blockbusters loved by the Chinese audience. These movies made a fortune from theatres in the "Dragon Land", something that the Ranveer Singh movie possibly cannot achieve.

Dangal earned a total overseas collection of ₹1,535.30 crore, out of which ₹1,305.29 crore came from China alone, Sacnilk claimed. Bajrangi Bhaijaan recorded ₹489.47 crore in total overseas earnings, including ₹295.76 crore from China. Andhadhun collected  ₹330.54 crore from by the Chinese market. Meanwhile, PK earned  ₹117.27 crore from China.

"Despite a modest budget of ₹15 crore, Secret Superstar became the second Indian film to surpass the $100 million mark abroad. This success was also largely dependent on the Chinese audience, pushing its total worldwide gross beyond the ₹900 crore mark," a Sacnilk report pointed out.

Interestingly, Dhurandhar 2 was denied a theatrical release by West Asian nations as well, which makes the epic run even more special.
