The grand comeback of BTS: When and where to see the ARIRANG live event of South Korea's biggest band

The seven-member band was on a three-year hiatus due to compulsory military service. After halting all music-related activities in 2022, all the members reunited in 2025, much to the delight of their diehard fans worldwide

After a brief hiatus of a little over three years, South Korea's biggest boy band BTS is gearing up for their grand stage comeback. Scheduled for March 21, this performance will be streamed live for global audiences subscribed to Netflix.

The members comprising RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook will perform at the historic Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. This performance will also introduce fans to music from the upcoming album ARIRANG, their fifth, before it hits the shelves on March 20. The trailer of the live performance has been released.

Accompanying this streaming event will be the documentary BTS: THE RETURN, which will give a comprehensive look at the making of ARIRANG and the journey of the band so far. It is directed by Bao Nguyen and produced by This Machine.

Members of the BTS were on a three-year break prior to 2025 as they were required to undergo compulsary military service of 18 months. They had put a lid on all activities in 2022 for this reason.

In 2024, Jin and j-hope were discharged from sevice, followed by RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook in June 2025, with SUGA being the last one to return on June 2025.

Regarded as one of the most relatable — and for some, therapeutic — bands, BTS made waves across the globe with biggest selling chartbusters such as their breakout hit "DNA" from Love Yourself: Her (2017). The album was followed by other smash hit singles such as "Fake Love" (Love Yourself: Tear, 2018) and "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey (Map of the Soul: Persona, 2019). "DNA" was the first song by a Korean group to simultaneously enter the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200, staying on the Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks.

"Map of the Soul: 7", their best sellling album to date, comprised hits like "ON" and "Black Swan."

They also released their 'pandemic' album BE the same year, which featured the blockbuster "Dynamite,", their first English-language single. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for multiple weeks. The album also featured "Life Goes On" which became the first Korean-language song to ever top the chart.
