Just 18 days remain for the most awaited Indian film of 2026, Dhurandhar 2! Dhurandhar was a mind-boggling sensation when it released in December 2025 and the spy thriller tore apart the record books, setting new benchmarks for Hindi films. Despite releasing without any dubbed versions, Dhurandhar still clocked over Rs 1200 crore worldwide, showcasing an unprecedented theatrical run.
Dhurandhar 2 is set to release in theatres on March 19, 2026 and is slated to face a box office clash with Yash's magnum opus Toxic. According to latest reports, Dhurandhar 2 runtime has been locked aat approximately 235 minutes. It is the longest Indian film in the 21st century, overtaking Aamir Khan's 2001 blockbuster Lagaan.
It's not often that the sequel of a record-breaking film releases in less than three months but Dhurandhar 2 has different circumstances from biggie sequels of the past. Unlike films like Baahubali 2 or Pushpa 2, Dhurandhar 2 was not initially supposed to happen, as Dhurandhar made with the intention of being a standalone film.
However, due to the footage running past seven hours and the edits unable to do justice to the quality, the producers opted to make it into a two-part film. The move has paid off big time because the entire budget has been recovered and over Rs 300 crore profit has also been made by the Dhurandhar producers. Hence, Dhurandhar 2 is a 'free hit' as there is no budget to recover.
The only major record that Dhurandhar missed was the first day and first weekend records. With the buzz around Dhurandhar 2 scaling an all-time high, expect Dhurandhar 2 to take off with a real bang. If it were a solo release, then new benchmarks would have been set but even now, there is scope for a sensational start.
