The internet is buzzing after the release of the official Dhurandhar 2 teaser. While the video promo is the exact clip that is shown as a post-credits scene in Dhurandhar, the sequel continues to build its hype in astounding fashion. The makers have also unveiled a few Dhurandhar 2 posters featuring Ranveer Singh alone, and they have also come out well.
Meanwhile, there will be two major changes in Dhurandhar 2 when we compare with Dhurandhar. Firstly, the music rights of Dhurandhar 2 have gone to T-Series and not Saregama who held the rights of Dhurandhar. The reason for this is clear - the makers are aiming for a pan-India approach in Dhurandhar 2. It means multiple dubbed versions in the southern parts of India, unlike Dhurandhar which released only in Hindi.
T-Series are a major market force when it comes to pan-Indian music labels and it makes sense for Jio Studios and B62 Studios to use them for Dhurandhar 2. The more significant change, however, is regarding the OTT rights. Dhurandhar was sold to Netflix as a pre-release deal but the posters of Dhurandhar 2 clearly indicate that the sequel will be streamed on JioHotstar. Why this big change?
Firstly, Dhurandhar rights were sold pre-release because making the film into two parts was a last-minute decision and understandably, it was a high-risk high reward move. Hence, the producers went safe and sold the film's rights pre-release to keep themselves financially secure in a worst case scenario.
However, it also meant that the film had to premiere on OTT after eight weeks according to OTT regulations. So, Dhurandhar arrived on Netflix despite having steady revenue from theatres. Dhurandhar 2 will not have that concern as Jio Studios can decide when to show the film on JioHotstar.

Eventually, Dhurandhar went on to break all major box office records and became the highest-ever grosser in Hindi cinema, both in India and globally. The OTT premiere happened on January 30 and has been dominating Netflix ever since it dropped on the platform. With such a major golden goose at their disposal, it's only natural that Jio Studios would want to use their own streaming platform for Dhurandhar 2.
However, the Netflix move did help Dhurandhar to gain a global reach, something that JioHotstar will not be able to, due to technical constraints and lesser worldwide reach. Nevertheless, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 seem extremely confident about the sequel and the box office could see another hurricane from March 19 onwards.
