Actor Suvinder Vicky was one of the biggest draws of the first season of Netflix's Kohrra. So when Season 2 was announced, with the promos featuring Barun Sobti and Mona Singh released recently, there was one question on the minds of the show's fans: Where is Suvinder Vicky, and will he return? The answer is a definite no, according to the makers of the show.
In an interaction with IANS, Sudip Sharma, a creator of the show, shared a reason for not including his character in the show, before conveying the difficulty of making such a decision. "The performance was great. The character was very close to me personally. And then you spend so much time with a person, so there is a friendship too. You want to relive that experience again.”
Sharma adds that the team of taking it back to the setting of Season 1, but they had concluded that arc with the character. “We wanted to take it back. But my story of that character ended. To take that character’s story to the next season, I didn’t have any other way. We didn’t have and I discussed this a lot with Gunjit Chopra (co-creator), because it was a very big decision to do this,” he said.
It also had to do with the makers not wanting to repeat what they did before. “But because all his emotional arcs were closed, his personal track was also satisfying. It felt like it came to an end. So there was no other way to keep that character in the show. That’s why I said, instead of repeating the same thing, it would be better if a new character is created and the story is told in a new way. Because the show is bigger than all of us. So whatever needs to be done for the betterment of the show,” he explained.
Kohrra Season 2 will begin stream on Netflix from February 11.
