Leonardo DiCaprio's 'The Revenant' returning to IMAX screens for 10th anniversary

A brutal and visually stunning survival drama based on true events, the Alejandro G. Inarritu epic was shot by ace cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, a frequent collabortor of Inarritu, Terrence Malick, and Alfonso Cuaron

The makers of Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer The Revenant have announced that the Academy award-winning survival thriller will be returning to IMAX screens to mark the occasion of this 10th anniversary. Release dates have been set as Feb. 26 and March 1, 2026.

Directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Inarritu, The Revenant will be out in  in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico, aside from the U.S.

It's not yet known whether the feature will release on IMAX screens in India, but given the popularity of DiCaprio in the country, and since the actor's most recent release One Battle After Another did well in IMAX screens across the country, an official announcement pertaining to its release in the country is awaited. 20th Century Studios is backing the release.

A brutal and visually stunning survival drama based on true events, The Revenant was shot by ace cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, a frequent collabortor of Inarritu, Terrence Malick, and Alfonso Cuaron. It was edited by Stephen Mirrione and scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto.

The film, which relied mostly on visuals to tell the harrowing tale of frontiersman Hugh Glass, played by DiCaprio, has Tom Hardy in a negative role, which provides the entire narrative a revenge angle.

Written by Mark L. Smith and Alejandro G. Iñárritu based partly on the novel by Michael Punke, the Western drama also stars Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter in significant roles.
