With three days to go, Border 2 is rocking the ticket counters ever since the advance booking opened on Monday (January 19). Within the first 12 hours, the film had already sold 10,000 tickets through national multiplex chains while BookMyShow had reported 20,000 tickets sold during the same period.

While that initial hysteria of ticket sales has slowed down a wee bit, the advance booking for Border 2 is still going at superstrong levels. If recent biggies are to be compared, then Border 2 has comfortable beaten the advance booking numbers of the industry's highest-ever lifetime grosser, Dhurandhar.

However, the Ranveer Singh starrer hadn't taken the biggest opening with the buzz being surprisingly low at the time of release. It was only after the sensational word-of-mouth kicked in, that Dhurandhar surged upwards to historic levels. Border 2 will take a much bigger opening than Dhurandhar if we compare first day numbers but will it be Sunny Deol's biggest opener?

The one factor that Border 2 has to work with, is the extremely high pricing of tickets. This is an unusual thing for Sunny Deol films that generally don't have hiked ticket rates. However, with Border 2 being a landmark franchise film coupled with Republic Day weekend, the makers have opted for dynamic pricing across the country.

This could be one reason why the ticket sales aren't as strong as they were for Gadar 2 which was another historic sequel from Deol. However, an opening in the Rs 35-40 crore nett range is guaranteed for Border 2 and if it breaches Rs 40 crore, it will become Deol's biggest opening day.

For now, national multiplex chains have sold close to 25,000 tickets while BookMyShow has soared past 50,000. Expect a surge over the next three days, particularly in the 24 hours leading to release day.
