'The Raja Saab' box office collection day 3: Drops further as Prabhas starrer continues to struggle

On its third day, Prabhas' latest release 'The Raja Saab' is set to show further drop in collections

'The Raja Saab' is experiencing further drop on its third day at the box office

The weekend trend for The Raja Saab is alarming as the Prabhas starrer is struggling on its third day even with it being a Sunday. The mixed to negative feedback for the film hasn't helped, while the hiked ticket rates for Sankranthi has also played its part with the viewers extremely cautious at this point.

Prabhas' stardom ensured a strong start on the opening day but cracks were visible on the second day itself, even in the superstar's strong zone Nizam where the collections fell by more than 50 percent. While the opening day in Telugu states stood at roughly Rs 45 crore nett, the second day figures came crashing down to Rs 20 crore nett.

If the advance bookings for the Telugu version are anything to go by, The Raja Saab is set to detect further drop on its third day. The pre-sales for the third day in India is only Rs 7 crore, a big fall from the second day that stood at Rs 12.55 crore. In Andhra Pradesh, Day 2 had pre-sales of Rs 4.30 crore and the third day shows just Rs 2.75 crore.

The trend is similar in Telangana which has fallen from Rs 6.65 crore to Rs 3.15 crore. The Hindi version is staying stable but there seems to be alleged self-booking on display through the film's makers. For instance, the opening day barely made it to Rs 5 crore nett but eventually it was pushed up to Rs 6 crore nett. Similarly, the second day showed Rs 5 crore nett but the actuals are around Rs 4 crore.

The Raja Saab is set to collect around Rs 15-20 crore nett on its third day. It should have decent occupancy in the evening and night shows but Chiranjeevi's latest release, slated to hit theatres on Monday (January 12) is having paid premieres on Sunday evening onwards. This will undoubtedly affect The Raja Saab and most theatres in the Telugu states have also brought down ticket rates to normal levels.
