At the grand audio launch of Jana Nayagan held in Malaysia, Tamil superstar Vijay reiterated, for the last time, that his decision to quit cinema for good is final, and that he is doing this for the fans who built a "fort" for him and kept him going with their constant support and encouraging words. "Naan cinemavaiye vittu kodukkiren (I am giving up cinema)," he said.
This event saw the attendance of many stalwarts from the Tamil film industry working in various disciplines, such as actor Nasser, composer Anirudh Ravichander, filmmakers Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee, and Nelson Dhilipkumar, among others, who shared their past working experiences with 'Thalapathy'.
While reflecting on his three-decade-long cinema journey, Vijay vowed to serve the people for the next three decades or so.
"When I got into movies, I thought I was building a small sand house. But all of you have built me a palace. My fans helped me build a fort. That's why I've decided to stand for them. For the fans who gave up everything for me, I'm giving up cinema itself," said the actor, who is working with director H. Vinoth for the first time. The filmmaker promised that Jana Nayagan guarantees "100% entertainment."
Jana Nayagan will hit theatres on January 9, 2026, as a Pongal release. The main cast members of Jana Nayagan include Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Menon, Priyamani, and Naren.
The event, which ran for around five to six hours, will be telecast on Zee Tamil prior to that, on January 4, 2026.
