There is simply no stopping Dhurandhar, even on its 17th day, as the demand for the film continues to be on insane levels. After becoming the first film to get Rs 20 crore nett on third Friday, it also became the first movie to go past Rs 30 crore nett on third Saturday, ending with a few more crores beyond the landmark figure.
For a film that opened below Rs 30 crore nett on its first day, Dhurandhar's trajectory at the box office has been unprecedented and not seen before in the last 30 years. On its 17th day, the film is still going at roughly 55-60 percent all-India occupancy from a wide release count. Yes, the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19 did take some screens but Dhurandhar still retained 90 percent screens.
Early estimates suggest a possible Rs 40 crore nett on its third Sunday for Dhurandhar, which is sensational to say the least. As mentioned on this website few days ago, we are starting to run out of adjectives to describe the success of Dhurandhar. The film will coast past the lifetime India nett collections of Baahubali 2 and Pathaan today, and has plenty of gas still left in the tank.
After 17 days, Dhurandhar's India nett gross will be around Rs 530-535 crore and before the end of this week, it will displace Jawan, Stree 2 and Chhaava to become the biggest Hindi film grosser. The question that remains will be whether it can dethrone Pushpa 2's Hindi version which stands at Rs 738 crore nett.
At this point, there is still some work to do but the juggernaut run from Dhurandhar tells us that anything is possible. Remember, the Christmas holiday and New Year is still left, and this period usually sees a boost even on weekdays. Dhurandhar is already performing on freak levels and this boost should only help it to go further deep towards Pushpa 2's numbers. Meanwhile, the film is set to cross Rs 800 crore globally with overseas heading towards Rs 200 crore.
