Kannada TV serial actress Chaithra R was abducted by her film producer husband, Harshvardhan, last week amid disagreement over daughter's custody of their daughter in Bengaluru.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2023, were estranged over marital disputes over the past eight months. Harshvardhan is the owner of Vardhan Enterprises.
She moved from their place in Hassan to a rented house on the Magadi Road with their one-year-old daughter, said a report.
Chaitra was travelling to Mysuru for a TV serial shooting on December 7 when she got abducted, reported NDTV. Harvhardhan allegedly planned the whole shooting story with his associates. He allegedly paid Rs 20,000 to one Kaushik, who along with another person, called Chaitra to Mysuru Road Metro Station, around 8 am. They then kidnapped her in a car, which went via NICE Road.
However, Chaitra managed to inform her friend, Girish, around 10.30 am. He immediately alerted her relatives.
In the evening, Harshvardhan called Chaitra's mother, saying he kidnapped the actress. He threatened her that Chaitra won't be released unless his daughter was brought to a location specified by him. Later, he asked Chaitra's relatives to bring the toddler to Arsikere.
Later, Chaitra was released. Following this, her sister, Leela R, lodged a police complaint.
