With nationalism at its peak in India, military movies have become an increasing trend, especially in Bollywood. The latest to this list is Farhan Akhtar's 120 Bahadur that released this Friday (November 21). The film is based on the real-life incidents that occurred during the India-China war of 1962.
120 Bahadur grabbed headlines earlier in the week as it became the first film to premiere at defence theatres across the country as a mark of respect for the armed forces. Despite an impressive trailer, the film couldn't get going on its opening day at the domestic box office. The all-India average occupancy on the first day hovered around 5 percent, which is an embarrassing start for the film.
To make matters worse, there hasn't been an upward trend through the day, as is generally the case with films on a Friday. As per early estimates, 120 Bahadur is set to clock around Rs 1-1.50 crore nett on its opening day. The other disappointing news for the film is that plenty of shows have been cancelled across the country due to lack of audience.
120 Bahadur tells the brave tale of 120 Indian soldiers who had to stave off the threat from 3000 Chinese soldiers during the Battle of Rezang La. Apart from Akhtar, the film's cast includes Raashi Khanna, Ankit Siwach and Vivan Bhatena alongside a host of other character actors. The war film also has its voiceover by Amitabh Bachchan.
Akhtar has also produced the film along with Ritesh Sidhwani and Amit Chandra under the banner of Excel Entertainment. 120 Bahadur's music is an assortment of songs from Amit Trivedi and Salim-Sulaiman.
