'Kaantha' worldwide box office collection Day 2: Dulquer Salmaan starrer set for another solid day

Dulquer Salmaan's latest release Kaantha is having another solid day at the worldwide box office. The period drama opened to a good start on its opening day with the evening and night shows experiencing a strong jump from the afternoon. Consequently, Kaantha ended with a worldwide gross of close to Rs 10 crore on its first day.

The breakup of the gross is fairly 50-50 when you consider India and overseas. Although Kaantha is a straight Tamil film that has been dubbed into Telugu, there has been decent buzz in the Telugu states due to Salmaan's immense popularity. The first day gross from Tamil versions is approximately Rs 2.90 crore while the Telugu versions clocked close to Rs 2.10 crore gross.

Overseas, Kaantha has taken a decent start with an approximate figure of Rs 5 crore on its opening day. Salmaan's previous release Lucky Bhaskar had a worldwide gross of Rs 12-13 crore on its opening day. However, it must be noted that Kaantha is a more niche film in comparison and doesn't boast of the same entertaining elements as Lucky Bhaskar.

The morning shows of Kaantha on Day 2 have seen a marginal jump from Day 1 and the Saturday factor should help the film to put up decent numbers for the day. As per early estimates, Kaantha is set for another double digit at the global box office. The collections have been steady and the positive word-of-mouth is helping the film although a huge jump is missing thus far.

Nevertheless, the fact that is maintaining solid trends is a positive and the aim will be to score a satisfactory weekend.
