Pranav Mohanlal's horror thriller Dies Irae is off to a rocking start at the box office. The Rahul Sadasivan directorial had immense buzz on the back of exciting promo content and the film maker's previous film Bramayugam which had won critical acclaim. All this has translated into a superb opening for the film.
Like many films in recent times, Dies Irae also opted for paid previews on October 30 and there was wide release of shows across Kerala. The collections from premiere shows alone came to Rs 81 lakh and the early reviews are extremely positive for the film. If the word-of-mouth remains strong, it is set for opening day and weekend.
As per early estimates, the tracked gross in Kerala alone has gone past Rs 1.50 crore and this suggests an opening day of around Rs 3.50 crore at least with the potential to do more or less depending on how the trend is through the day. As of now, Dies Irae carries strong positive feedback from the viewers.

According to the early reviews, this film is said to be Pranav's career-best work and another masterclass from Sadasivan after the mind-bending film that Bramayugam was. The Mammootty-starrer ended with a worldwide gross of Rs 30 crore and going by the initial day, Dies Irae could go past that comfortably and become Sadasivan's biggest hit by some margin.
The eventual opening day and weekend figures will give more clarity on where Dies Irae is heading but for now, the early signs are very promising.
