Bison Kaalamaadan, Mari Selvaraj's latest directorial, is winning hearts worldwide and also doing steady business at the box office. This sports drama, inspired by real-life Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, is set to become a commercial success despite facing competition from Dude in the Diwali season.
On Thursday (October 23), the makers of Bison Kaalamaadan had arranged a special show for the media in Kochi at PVR Forum Mall. Apart from Selvaraj, Dhruv Vikram, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal and Pasupathy were all present at the screening that started from 7.30 pm. After the show, Dhruv was vocal about his director's impact that allowed him to give such a solid performance.
"Ellavarkkum Namaskaaram (Greetings to everyone)," said Dhruv in Malayalam before quickly mentioning that this would be his only sentence in the language.
"Thank you to my Bison, my Kittan, Mari sir. Everything that you see, whatever I have done in this film, I did by observing him. Be it the Kabaddi portions or any of the other sequences."
Dhruv, who is just three films old, has been winning accolades for his brilliant portrayal as Vanathi Kittan, a prodigous Kabaddi player who rises through the ranks to become a national player for India. The 28-year-old showed remarkable maturity in several high-intensity scenes of the film and had undeniable shades of his famous father Vikram, be it in the voice, looks or sound modulation.
"In case I couldn't do any scene properly, it only means that I couldn't execute Mari Sir's vision properly. Mari Sir, next time I'll try to do a lot better if you give me the chance."
Dhruv always expressed his gratitude to the media who had turned up for the special screening of the film.
"It was amazing to see a full crowd here and I am really happy that you all turned up to watch the film. I felt really happy and had a good time watching it with all of you (media)."
Dhruv's maiden film Adithya Verma was the Tamil remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy while his second film Mahaan featured Vikram in the lead role with him playing the second lead. However, Dhruv had been vocal prior to the release of Bison Kaalamaadan, urging people to consider this as his effective 'debut'.
That statement drew polarised opinions but Dhruv's intention was to indicate the amount of physical and mental preparation he had undertaken for Bison Kaalamaadan. As the film is set to emerge a success, Dhruv's words seem to have a profound meaning in hindsight.
