The records keep coming for Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 as it soars into its third week at the box office. The worldwide gross has gone past Rs 700 crore, making it the second film in 2025 to achieve the milestone after Vicky Kaushal's Chhava. Meanwhile, the film has also got into an elite club on its 17th day at the box office.
On Sunday (October 19), Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to touch the coveted Rs 50 crore mark in Kerala and with this, it will have completed the milestone of Rs 50 crore in all south Indian states - a feat only achieved by three films before. Bahubali 2 (2017), KGF 2 (2022) and Jailer (2023) are the only films to have done this before.
With Kantara: Chapter 1 entering this club, two of the four films will be from the Kannada film industry, that too in the gap of just three years, proof of the increasing pan-India appeal of films from the state. Meanwhile, the Rishab Shetty-starrer has also set a new benchmark in Karnataka by being the first film to breach the Rs 200 crore gross.
