'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' box office collection Day 39: Becomes all-time no.1 Kerala Box Office grosser by beating Mohanlal's 'Thudarum'

It's taken 39 days but Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has overcome the toughest box office record of all. When Thudarum notched up an astounding Rs 118.90 crore in Kerala earlier this year, that number seemed difficult to break in the near future, let alone in the same year.

However, on Sunday (October 5), Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has touched Rs 119 crore gross in the state, thereby becoming the new no.1 grosser in Kerala. The unprecedented record of Thudarum is now history as Dominic Arun's fantasy action thriller now becomes Numero Uno at the Kerala Box Office.

The worldwide gross of the film is also inching towards the historic Rs 300 crore mark, which would be a first for the film. As per trends, it should get there on Monday (October 6), which would be the 40th day of the film's theatrical run. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra endured a superb sixth weekend, grossing approximately Rs 2 crore from the three days with an upward trend across the weekend.

The film's performance is mind-boggling when you consider that it is facing stiff competition from the newly released Kantara: Chapter 1 which is wrecking havoc across India. In Kerala, the Rishab Shetty-starrer is already looking at a Rs 21-22 crore gross figure from the extended four-day weekend with exceptional word-of-mouth translating into fantastic box office numbers.

Despite the 'Kantara wave', Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues to collect steadily and it should continue to do so for another week at least if not till Diwali.
