In a shocking twist, it has been revealed that singer Zubeen Garg was allegedly poisoned, leading to his death. He died in Singapore on September 19

His band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami alleged that Zubeen Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma and the North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta poisoned the late singer. Goswami, who has been a long-time associate of Zubeen, is a singer, composer, lyricist and drummer.

Goswami raised suspicion regarding Siddharth Sharma's behaviour in Singapore, accusing him of forcibly taking control of the yacht and intentionally endangering the passengers, reported News18, citing a witness statement.

He claimed that Sharma had planned the alleged murder in advance, asking Tanmoy Phukan not to provide beverages and that he would himself give arrange them. Goswami alleged that Sharma ignored when Zubeen was seen "frothing", failed to seek urgent medical help and dismissed it as "acid reflux". After he frothed in the mouth and nose, Sharma allegedly shouted: "Let him go, let him go."

Sharma also allegedly prevented Goswami from sharing any videos of the yacht incident. He also claimed that Zubeen, who was an "expert swimmer", could not have drowned naturally.

Goswami and Assamese singer Amrit Prabha Mahanta, who were band members, were remanded on 14-day Criminal Investigation Department (CID) custody after cops sought more time for interrogation and examination of electronic devices.

Siddharth Sharma earlier wrote an open letter online declaring his innocence, after his home was raided by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) earlier.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said a judicial commission headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia of the Gauhati High Court will be formed to investigate the death of the singer.
