Jeethu Joseph, who is known for entertaining Indians with the Drishyam franchise, failed to pull off his magic with his latest directorial, 'Mirage'. It reflected at the box office too as moviegoers did not find any incentive in watching it on the big screen.
How much did Mirage collect on Day 1?
On Day 1, 'Mirage', which stars Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles, raked in just Rs 76 lakh in net domestic collection, according to Sacnilk.
Compared to 'Mirage', Lokah Chapter: 1 Chandra that released ahead of Onam is still performing well after three weeks. The Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer, which collected Rs 1.85 crore on its Day 22, is on its way to beat Empuraan's worldwide box office collection. Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam collected Rs 25 lakh on its Day 22.
Most of the viewers were tired of the dull plot twists that came one after another, failing to give any goosebumps. Another factor was too much verbal explanation that left too little for visual imagination.
The crime thriller was co-written by Jeethu and Srinivasan Abrol based on a story by Aparna R Tarakad. It was produced by Naad Sstudios and E4 Experiments in association with Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories.
Besides Asif and Aparna, the cast also includes Hakim Shahjahan, Arjun Syam Gopan, Deepak Parambol, Hannah Reji Koshy, Sampath Raj and Saravanan.
